What is HHC?
HHC stands for hexahydrocannabionol. It is a cannabinoid that occurs naturally in hemp but only in small amounts. Although it is not THC, it has active effects like THC versus passive effects like CBD.
On a chemistry level, there are some notable differences between THC and HHC. For example, HHC has no double bonds. And if you're a cannabinoid expert, you'll know that the double bond's location differentiates Delta-8 from Delta-9.
Instead, HHC has hydrogen atoms where THC's double bonds would typically be. An easier way to think of HHC is a hydrogenated version of THC. But what does "hydrogenated" mean? It means that a molecule has been charged or combined with hydrogen.
HHC Effects
You've probably passed by a CBD shop and found HHC for sale. And now you're wondering what its effects are.
Whether it's hemp-derived Delta-9, Delta-8, THC-O, or anything else, THC is the cannabis compound that people associate with having active effects. On the other hand, CBD is known for its more passive effects.
But HHC is neither THC nor is it CBD. So what are its effects?
Well, the jury is still out on this one. Primarily because cannabinoids affect everyone a bit differently. However, anecdotal reports claim that, in terms of "activity" per mg, HHC would fall somewhere between CBD and Delta-8 but closer to Delta-8.
Some hemp enthusiasts say that HHC offers mild euphoria, relaxation, and a nice energizing boost. But when reading through these reports, it's important to note that cannabinoids affect everyone differently.
The best way to see how HHC affects you is to try a small amount, wait for the effects to set in, and then decide how to proceed from there.
Is HHC Safe?
When it comes to HHC or other cannabinoids, there is very little threat of physical danger. You should avoid HHC if you have a cannabis allergy, if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant. You should also avoid consuming HHC before or while operating a vehicle or machinery.
How Strong is HHC?
When discussing the "strength" of cannabinoids, it's good to consider that much of what we hear comes from subjective, anecdotal evidence. On a 1mg basis, many would say that HHC is more "active" than CBD but not as noticeable as Delta-8 or hemp-derived Delta-9.
Then there are other factors to consider when figuring out the strength of a hemp-derived cannabinoid. For example, 200mg of HHC might be "felt more" than 5mg of Delta-8 THC.
And on top of this, there is the medium in which the HHC is consumed. For example, HHC edibles will offer more pronounced effects than HHC flower.
The best way to determine the effects of a cannabinoid is to first consult your doctor, and if you have the green light, try a small amount.
HHC Dosage
When it comes to enjoying HHC, there is no universal amount that one should take. This is because cannabinoids affect everyone a bit differently. So how much do you, specifically, take?
You'll need to use the "low and slow" method to determine this. This means starting out with a low amount, waiting until you feel the effects, waiting a bit after that, and then deciding if you want to take any more.
It may sound time-consuming, but once you find your "sweet spot," you've got a lot of good times and relaxation ahead of you.
HHC vs. THC
HHC and THC (whether Delta-8 or Delta-9) are separate compounds. The easiest way to think of the difference between cannabinoids is that HHC has hydrogen atoms where THC's double bonds would be. THC enthusiasts know that it's the location of the double bond which differentiates the effects and legality of Delta-8 and Delta-9.
THC is generally perceived as more "active" than HHC per mg in terms of effects. Nonetheless, you're still going to want to try HHC in small amounts.
However, just like hemp-derived THC, hemp-derived HHC is legal on a federal level. This means that you can buy HHC online and have it shipped to your home.
Finding an HHC online store or an HHC shop on the internet is about as easy as finding a site that sells hemp-derived THC. Usually, you will find HHC products on the same sites that sell hemp-derived THC.
Simply go to your favorite vendor for hemp-derived THC, navigate their menu, and you should find HHC hemp products along with their price.
How long does THC stay in your system?
There is no definitive timeframe for how long HHC or any other cannabinoid will stay in your system. That applies to whether you're enjoying HHC infused gummies or even HHC flower. If you have a drug test, we highly advise you not to consume HHC products or any other products with hemp-derived cannabinoids.
