Is Delta 9 THC Legal to Buy in North Dakota?
If you are up on the hemp laws in the United States, you’re probably aware that the 2018 Farm Bill federally legalized hemp. However, this poses the popular question—is Delta 9 THC legal in North Dakota?
As of this writing, the answer is yes! According to the Farm Bill and North Dakota’s hemp laws, you can legally purchase products containing hemp-derived Delta-9 THC as long as the concentration is at or below 0.3% on a dry weight basis.
Let’s dive into more specifics of the bill:
CHAPTER 4.1-18.1 HEMP
- "Hemp" means the plant cannabis sativa L. and any part of the plant, including the seeds and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a total tetrahydrocannabinol concentration in an amount determined by the commissioner. The term does not include any commodity or product using hemp which exceeds the allowable amount of total tetrahydrocannabinol determined by the commissioner.
- "Tetrahydrocannabinol" means delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol and any structural, optical, or geometric isomers of tetrahydrocannabinol
- "Total tetrahydrocannabinol" means the sum of the percentage, by weight, of tetrahydrocannabinolic acid multiplied by eight hundred seventy-seven thousandths plus the percentage of weight of tetrahydrocannabinol.
What’s Delta-9 THC?
We know that over 113 cannabinoids can be extracted from the hemp plant. Through research, we’ve found that each of these constituents has different effects on the human body.
If you know a thing or two about hemp, you may have heard of the most popular cannabinoids, such as:
- Delta-9 THC
- Delta-8 THC
- Cannabidiol (CBD)
Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, or Delta-9, can be found in both hemp and marijuana. You may have heard this cannabinoid associated with “weed”, but it must be sourced from marijuana or appear at concentrations higher than 0.3% per dry weight to be labeled as such.
Is Delta-9 Safe?
When used safely and in moderation, Delta-9 edibles are generally safe. To stay safe, you mustn’t operate a vehicle or any type of heavy machinery after taking Delta-9 or any other form of THC.
Delta-9 affects every person differently, and some have reported feeling a bit “overwhelmed” after taking too much. This is why we always recommend starting with a small amount.
If you think you’ve accidentally taken too much, try to find an activity to ease your mind and relax a bit. Some activities we recommend are taking a walk, listening to music, or watching your favorite movie.
What Are the Effects of Delta 9 THC?
Now that we know there are over 100 cannabinoids in hemp, we’ve learned that each of these is bound to cause different effects. So now you may be wondering, what effects does Delta-9 have on the body?
Although we can’t pinpoint exactly how it will make you feel, some cannabis enthusiasts have said they’ve experienced feelings of:
- Increased appetite
The amount you take may determine how you will feel, and the effects are different for everyone, especially when Delta-9 is paired with other cannabinoids. Select Spectrum contains a blend of cannabinoids such as CBD and Delta-9 THC, which helps promote the ideal entourage effect desired by connoisseurs these days.
Are you experimenting with Delta-9 for the first time? We recommend that you start small. From there, you can always take more if you feel like you haven’t reached your desired effects.
