Colorado Banned It, Texas Failed... Is This Hemp Product the Next Big Thing?

THIS IS AN ADVERTISEMENT AND NOT AN ACTUAL NEWS ARTICLE, BLOG, OR CONSUMER PROTECTION UPDATE.

Delta 8 bottle next to leaves

Delta 8 is federally legal, natural, and as of June 15, 2021, you can order it online in 37 states.

Over the last decade, there have been significant developments in the hemp industry. One such breakthrough was the 2018 Farm Bill which legalized all derivatives of the plant at a federal level. The result? A new industry formed around the natural compound known as Delta 8, D8, or Δ8.

The truth is that Delta 8 is nothing new. It naturally occurs in hemp. D8 has been around as long as the plant which produces it has been around. For decades, lawmakers scrutinized the plant's derivatives. An opportunity came when Congress removed the restrictions at a federal level. Delta 8 products have since developed an avid following.

Delta 8 Effects

There isn’t much research on the specific effects of Delta 8. Someone curious about trying D8 may get an idea of the effects by reading reviews on a vendor’s website. However, it should be noted that effects may vary from person to person.

There are several ways someone can take Delta 8. It can be taken as an edible, vaped, smoked, or sublingually through a tincture. Those who are interested in Delta 8 should consult their physician before trying it.

Where Delta 8 Is Legal

Delta 8 was made legal on a federal level under the 2018 Farm Bill. It is legal in most states, but not all. As of June 15, 2021, Delta 8 products can be bought and ordered online in 37 states across the country. Many of these states have full or partial restrictions on products derived from the same species of plant. Delta 8 is still fully legal in these states.

During the Texas Legislative Session of 2021, D8 legality in the Lone Star State came under threat. After amendments made by the Texas Senate, HB 3948 would have banned Delta 8 products.

The bill was stopped by a coalition of hemp-based businesses and organizations led by Austin-based manufacturer and distributor Hometown Hero. To pass, the Texas House and Senate needed to reach an agreement on the bill. They could not reach a deal by the end of the legislative session, the bill died, and D8 remained legal.

Purchasing and Ordering Delta 8

You can purchase delta 8 in brick-and-mortar shops in states where it is legal. Due to its legal status on a federal level, D8 products can be ordered online and shipped through the mail.

A key factor for purchasing both in a store and online is finding if the seller is trustworthy. Potential buyers of D8 should check if the company has informational pieces on the compound used in the product description. Reliable D8 vendors will also have reviews featured by customers and may even have several third parties' awards.

Aside from the product itself, the people that run this place [Hometown Hero] are very quick to address concerns and keep me up to date on shipments and delays. I never do reviews but I feel this company deserves it.” - Christopher R., Texas 3/16/17

“Very impressed! Stock up while you can! Will definitely be placing more orders. So glad I read that NY Times article.” - Dave M. Missouri 3/16/2021

“Five star company with good customer service. Shipping and packing were perfect. I am very happy with the blueberry gummies that I bought and am sure that I will order again. My only advice is to start out with a part of a gummy (1/3? or 1/2?) until you know how they will affect you.” - Larry Q., New Jersey, 3/28/2021
