Have questions about Delta-8 pre-rolls? Then you’re in the right place. Here, we’ve compiled a list of questions that we’ve dug up about Delta-8 pre-rolls.

    These FAQs include:

    • What is Delta-8?
    • What is a Delta-8 Pre-Roll?
    • Do Delta-8 Pre-Rolls Get You High?
    • Are Delta-8 Pre-Rolls Safe?
    • Do Delta-8 Pre-Rolls Smell?

    Let’s begin.

    What is Delta-8?

There are over 113 known cannabinoids found in cannabis. Two of the most sought-after are CBD and THC.

You may be familiar with THC since it usually gets referenced when people talk about marijuana. But there isn’t just one type of THC. And THC isn’t only in marijuana. It’s also in hemp.

Hemp and marijuana are merely the same species, cannabis. They share the same cannabinoids, just in different concentrations. When the 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp on a federal level, it set forth the legal definitions of hemp and marijuana.

Hemp is cannabis with a 0.3% or lower concentration of Delta-9 THC. Marijuana is cannabis with any concentration that is higher than that.

So when people think of THC, it’s usually in regard to Delta-9 THC, which is in both marijuana and hemp but in different concentrations.

Delta-8 THC is just another form of tetrahydrocannabinol that naturally occurs in cannabis. It appears in small amounts, but it is federally legal and legal in many states at any amount or concentration when extracted from hemp.

    What is a Delta-8 Pre-Roll?

A Delta-8 pre roll is a Delta-8 joint or blunt rolled by a manufacturer and sold to a customer.

Delta 8 THC joints are like cannabis cigarettes, but they have ground hemp flower as their filler instead of tobacco. A blunt is like a “cannabis cigar,” but like a joint, is filled with cannabis instead of tobacco. In many but not all cases, a blunt's wrapping is tobacco. At Hometown Hero, we use palm leaves instead of tobacco for our Delta 8 blunts.

    Why buy a Delta 8 pre-roll?

The most prominent benefit to a Delta 8 pre roll is convenience. Sometimes you might not feel like rolling Delta 8 joints or blunt (especially after having smoked one). With a pre-roll, you get a professionally assembled joint or blunt. It’s loose enough to allow airflow, but packed enough to get smooth, full-bodied pulls without the risk of canoeing.

“Canoeing,” a problem more associated with joints, is when a joint doesn’t burn evenly. It’s when the top half of the joint burns but not the bottom, leaving an opening that resembles a canoe.

Do Delta 8 Pre Rolls Get You High?

The answer to if a D8 pre roll will get you “high” isn’t so clear cut. The effects of cannabinoids will vary from person to person. Generally speaking, when someone inhales Delta-8 THC, there is a quicker onset of the effects with a shorter duration when compared to Delta-8 edibles.

After consuming Delta-8, enthusiasts have reported feelings of:

    • Mild euphoria
    • Calmness
    • Relaxation
    • Mellowness

Like any cannabinoid product, a pre-roll might not create the “desired effect” for someone. And that’s okay. That might mean you want to go with an edible or a tincture instead.

At Hometown Hero, we recommend starting small when trying any Delta-8 product. This approach is much easier when taking edibles, tinctures, or vaping.

When lit, a pre-roll will continue to burn. You may want to manage the amount of Delta-8 you inhale by taking small pulls and periodically putting it out on an ashtray. This way, you don’t waste the entire pre-roll, and you can always light up later.

Are Delta 8 Pre Rolls Safe?

Delta-8 THC by itself will not pose any physical danger. Sure, it has the potential to be overwhelming, but again, not physically dangerous. For this reason, it’s always good to start in small amounts to determine how Delta-8 THC affects you.

But now, let’s talk about smoking. The dangers of smoking cigarettes are widely known. There are decades and decades of controlled studies on that subject matter.

Lighting anything, from cannabis to just lettuce, is probably not going to be the best thing for your lungs. The same applies to Delta 8 THC prerolls. When you smoke anything, there can be irritation to the lungs and throat.

Before considering smoking Delta-8, it’s best to consult a medical professional. Suppose you’re on the fence about smoking Delta-8 or have had a history of respiratory issues. In that case, you might want to consider tinctures or edibles instead. But again, always consult your doctor before making such health-related decisions.

Do Delta 8 Pre Rolls Smell?

Yes, a Delta-8 pre-roll will smell. When you ignite any form of cannabis, or just any plant in general, it’s going to create a smell.

Cannabis gets its distinct smell from terpenes. Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in many plants, and not just cannabis. Their purpose can vary from attracting pollinators (like bees or butterflies) or creating an odor that deters pests.

Terpenes can be found in both hemp and marijuana or "weed" because, after all, they are the same species.

Some people may enjoy the smell of burnt cannabis, and some may not, and that’s okay. If you are in the second category but still want to inhale Delta-8 THC, then you might want to consider vaping it instead.

    How Much THC In A Delta-8 Pre-Roll?

The amount of Delta-8 THC in Delta 8 infused pre rolls can vary greatly. Sometimes called “Delta 8 CBD pre rolls,” these products can come in the form of joints or even blunts. To tell how much Delta 8 is in these products, you can check the label when you buy a Delta 8 preroll pack or visit the manufacturer’s website to see if they offer any COAs (certificates of analysis) for their products.
