Synthetic Delta 8 THC

In recent years, there has been plenty of buzz surrounding Delta-8 THC.

However, with all this hype, there are bound to be misconceptions.

Is Delta-8 synthetic?

Delta 8 THC is not synthetic. But, there might be exceptions to this rule, but we’ll go over everything in this article.

To clear the air about D8 misunderstandings, we're going to cover:

Let's go.

What is Delta-8 THC?

Delta 8 THC Molecule

You probably already know about THC.

People describe it as the main compound in marijuana.

However, this only describes a specific type of THC: Delta-9 THC.

There is actually more than one type of THC.

Delta-8 THC is one of those variants

.

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized all derivatives from hemp. D8, which is derived from hemp, became legal on a federal level because of this bill.

As of June 15, 2021, Delta-8 THC is legal in 37 states.

What Are Synthetic Cannabinoids?

Dirty Laboratory with Synthetic Cannabinoids

Delta-8 THC is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis.

Synthetic cannabinoids are anything but this.

You may have heard some of the common names for synthetic cannabinoids:

  • K2
  • Spice

Generally, they are an herbal mixture (using tea leaves, for example) sprayed with artificial chemicals.

"What are the chemical compounds used in synthetic cannabinoids?"

No one can provide a definitive answer to that question.

These types of products can contain anywhere from two to over 50 chemicals.

The name "synthetic cannabinoid" itself is misleading.

As laboratory-made chemicals, it can be said that they are more like bath salts than cannabis.

What's even more critical to consider is that they're dangerous.

You can find articles all across the web about overdoses, psychotic episodes, and deaths linked to K2 and Spice.

In short:

  • Synthetic cannabinoids have nothing to do with cannabis
  • They get their name out of pure deception
  • There can be a wide variety of dangerous chemicals in K2 and Spice
  • They are dangerous, so don't use them

Again, do not use K2 and/or Spice.

Is Delta-8 Spice?

No! And far from it!

As mentioned before, Delta-8 THC is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis. It's as natural as cannabidiol (CBD), Delta-9 THC, and over 100 cannabinoids.

As mentioned earlier, Delta-8 is found in hemp in small amounts, but it is also found in marijuana in similar amounts.

Like CBD, it can be found in both plants.

So why do we use the term "Delta-8?"

It sounds like a "chemically" term. However, it's essential to emphasize its legal distinction.

"THC" is usually mentioned in the context of Delta-9 THC, the compound commonly found in marijuana.

The "9" comes from the fact that there is a chemical bond on its 9th carbon chain.

Delta-8 gets its name from the fact that this chemical bond is on the 8th carbon chain.

The D8 used in Hometown Hero products comes from hemp. This distinction makes our products comply with the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized all derivatives from hemp.

That's it.

So in short:

  • Delta-8 is a natural compound found in cannabis
  • It's federally legal
  • It’s not Spice or K2, nor remotely related to them

Is CBD Flower Spice?

Naturally Grown CBD Hemp

No.

Just plain no.

Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid, meaning that it is a compound found in the cannabis plant.

You can find it in hemp, and in fact, it's the second most prevalent compound in marijuana (right behind D9).

Again, spice, K2, and similar items are just a conglomeration of lab-made chemicals dumped onto a cheap medium.

"So what exactly is a CBD flower?"

Great question!

When people think about cannabis flowers or buds, they picture marijuana.

Hemp also has flowers but with a far lower amount of THC content.

CBD flower is just CBD extracted from hemp that is applied to a hemp flower.

That’s it.

Is Delta-8 Flower The Same as Spice?

Again, this is far from the truth.

Delta 8 THC flower uses the same CBD flower mentioned above, and is enhanced with pure Delta 8 THC.

First, the manufacturer extracts Delta-8 from hemp.

Some D8 product manufacturers synthesize their Delta 8 from CBD. At Hometown Hero, all of our Delta-8 is hemp-derived.

Delta-8 is then applied to the hemp flower.

It’s that simple.

What is Synthetic Delta-8 THC?

Now here's the thing to consider when talking about "synthetic vs. natural."

The definitions change depending on who you ask.

Delta-8 THC is naturally found in hemp.

Some manufacturers do not extract Delta-8 directly from hemp.

Instead, they convert CBD extracted from hemp into D8 THC.

The reasoning is that CBD is found in higher quantities in hemp than Delta-8 THC.

This process requires less hemp to create the Delta-8.

Some may argue that this is "synthetic."

Hometown Hero does not use this process.

We get it directly from hemp.

Delta 8 occurs in hemp naturally but in low amounts. So instead of making it from CBD, we use larger quantities of hemp to produce concentrated Delta-8.

Buying Delta-8 Online

Couple Purchasing Delta 8 THC Online

Unlike Delta-9, Delta-8 is federally legal.

Due to it being legal at this level, it can be ordered online, just like many products out there.

As of June 15, 2021, Delta-8 is legal in 37 out of 50 states in the U.S.

So yes.

You can buy Delta-8 online and have it shipped to your front door!

At Hometown Hero, we have plenty of happy customers from all around the country, ranging from here in Texas to Missouri, Indiana, New Jersey, and beyond.

Conclusion

Is Delta-8 synthetic?

No, and there are many misconceptions about it.

To summarize:

  • Delta-8 THC is a naturally occurring compound found in cannabis
  • "Synthetic cannabinoid" is a purposefully misleading term as these lab-made chemicals have nothing to do with cannabis
  • Do not try synthetic cannabinoids since the risks can range from an overdose to death
  • Delta-8 is not spice, nor is it K2
  • CBD flower and Delta-8 flower are not spice either; they're simply cannabinoids applied to hemp flowers for smoking
  • Delta-8 is legal on a federal level, and if you live in one of the 37 states where it's legal, you can have it delivered in your mail
