To us, every person who has put on the uniform and served in our armed forces is a hometown hero. And if you are a veteran or active duty, you should know that we offer a 15% military discount that applies to all products.

It's not just about showing our appreciation, but it's our conviction that cannabis should be accessible to those who need it, especially when it comes to those who served or are currently serving.

Redeeming Your Discount

To redeem Hometown Hero's 15% off military discount, you must meet one of the two following criteria:

Active Duty: You're currently serving full-time in the U.S. armed forces.

Veteran: You have previously served in the armed forces and were discharged under honorable conditions.

The next step toward redeeming your discount is to create a VerifyPass account right here.

What is VerifyPass?

VerifyPass is a service used by Hometown Hero that verifies credentials for discounts.

Once you create an account, you only need to be verified once. After that, you will be eligible for our discount, as well as a wide range of businesses that use VerifyPass.

So how does VerifyPass verify your active duty or veteran status?

VerifyPass can confirm your status through:

Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS)
Email (.mil)
Any of the following documentation:

DD-214
Veterans Affairs ID
GI Bill Documentation
Promotion Certification
Award Certificate

Verification through DEERS or email is going to be instant.

However, if you're an older veteran, your main option might just be through the documentation listed above. Nonetheless, this type of verification may just take several minutes, depending on how many people are currently getting processed through VerifyPass.

After verification, you will receive your own custom discount code, which you can use in our online store for any product!

Cannabis For Veterans

When the 2018 Farm Bill passed, hemp and hemp-derived cannabinoids became legal on a federal level. This includes:

Delta-9 THC (at a 0.3% or lower concentration on a dry weight basis)

And for the first time, in many states across the country (like here in Texas), people were now able to have access to legal cannabis (hemp) products.

Supporting Hometown Heroes

As mentioned earlier, we view everyone who is serving or has served as a true hometown hero.

In fact, that's why we call ourselves "Hometown Hero."

It's not just our name, but it's also a reminder of our mission, that everything we do centers around helping veterans in need. And this goes all the way back to our beginning.

Hometown Hero was founded in 2015 by the U.S. Coast Guard veteran Lukas Gilkey and Lewis Hamer.

During his service, Lukas served on the Coast Guard Cutter Chase as a Telecommunications Specialist 2nd Class and as part of the Boarding Team with that unit. He was part of many operations during his time, from busting smugglers to chasing out illegal fisheries.

Lukas had friends who served in other branches of the armed forces, and he witnessed firsthand the effects their trauma had on them. During Lukas’ and Lewis’ many trips to the shooting range, they’d hear about the many difficulties these veterans faced.

So, since our founding, we’ve been donating a portion of proceeds from every product sold to nonprofit organizations that help veterans.

Over the years, Hometown Hero has had the privilege to work with several veterans' charities, including:

These organizations do amazing things for our nation's heroes. This includes providing free transportation to medical appointments, benefits advocacy, building mortgage-free homes for veterans and their families, and a whole lot more.
