CBD Oil or Cannabutter?
Before we begin our recipe, let’s go over the primary advantage of using CBD butter instead of using CBD oil.
The most notable difference between the two is the potency. Cannabutter made correctly will obtain a high concentration of compounds from the hemp, which will further infuse the edibles as it bakes.
For those that don’t have cannabutter premade, you may be tempted to just use CBD oil instead. The drawback of this method is the heat.
If CBD oil passes the threshold of 320°F (160°C) it can reduce the effectiveness of the brownies.
With this difference in mind, we use CBD butter made from this recipe.

1 ⅓ cups white sugar

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C )
Lightly grease a 7x11-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Taking a small handful of flour, pour it into the greased pan. Move it around until it evenly coats all sides.
In a separate bowl, combine all dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and place to the side. In a large bowl, combine butter, CBD butter, oil, and sugar. Once combined, whisk in eggs and vanilla.
Sift the dry ingredients into the large bowl with wet ingredients. Gently fold the dry ingredients until it is combined.
Add in ¾ of the chocolate chips.
Empty the batter into the pan and smoothly even out the top. Add in the remaining chocolate chips on top.
Bake for 35-45 minutes.
After removing it from the oven, let it cool at room temperature for 30 minutes. From there, cut it into small squares and serve.
Growing up, you know how your mom would let you lick the spoon after the brownies made it in the oven? Unless you want to start your experience before the edibles are baked, avoid consuming anything that has been exposed to the CBD butter.
During the final minutes on the timer, make sure to check your brownies frequently with a toothpick. If residue sticks to it, it’s not ready.
With homemade hemp-infused baked goods, it’s difficult to determine the amount of cannabinoids in each serving. To stay on the safe side, start small.
Lastly, wait for them to cool. We know how inconvenient it can feel, but waiting will ensure that you can precisely cut them into even pieces.
How Much CBD Oil to Put into Brownies
The amount of cannaoil or CBD butter you put in your brownies will depend on your overall goal of these edibles.
If you want to eat a whole brownie without consuming more CBD than you need, it is best to use less hemp flower during the cannabutter-making process.
Another substitute you can make is by using half less CBD butter in the recipe and replacing it with more salted butter. But if you’re looking to improve the power of these edibles, feel free to increase it at your discretion.
How to Store CBD Brownies
In terms of simple storage instructions, you want to keep three things in mind: sunlight, temperature, and having containers that keep the product air-tight.
Arguably, there is nothing worse than spending your time and resources on making quality tasting edibles just to have them spoil. To prevent this, make a mental note of how long you expect to keep them.
Planning on eating them within a week? Simply place them in an airtight container in a drawer or cabinet away from light.
However, if you want to preserve the integrity of the edibles for as long as possible, individually wrap each brownie in plastic, followed by placing it in a zip-up plastic bag or glass jar, and then in the freezer. With this method, your baked goods can last up to six months.
