How Much Delta 8 Should I Take?

Published January 24, 2022

The effects of THC vary from person to person. Because of this, there isn’t a definite answer on how much a customer should consume.

With many consumption methods, it’s important to remember that you will need a different amount with each product.

Still, if you don’t have experience with hemp, it can feel challenging to find out where to start.

Below, we will be covering different techniques to find the ideal amount for you based on the product type.

Different Types of Products

Each Delta-8 product has its advantages, which is why some prefer one over the other. Either way, you still want to find your sweet spot with each one.

Before we get into the products, remember—starting small will help you find the optimal amount without feeling like you overdid it.

Delta-8 Flower

Smoking Delta-8 flower is one of the oldest consumption techniques still popular today. Most people lean towards this method because it’s effective and provides a faster onset of effects compared to other methods.

With Delta-8 flower, consumers can choose different strains that vary based on cannabinoid and terpene content—all of which may factor into the effects that occur.

Since most hemp products are lab-tasted, Delta-8 flower from a trustworthy vendor will come with a certificate of analysis (COA) to ensure that it is Farm Bill compliant, contaminant-free, and which cannabinoids are present in the product.

Looking at the Delta-8 THC quantity will give you an idea of how much you need to take to start feeling effects.

If you are new, start by packing a small amount into a bowl and take a short puff. After waiting an appropriate amount of time, you can determine whether or not to reach for more.

Keep in mind—if you are a beginner, you may not have the accessories you need.

If you are looking to try hemp without spending money on tools, we offer high-quality Delta-8 pre-rolls that will make your experience as smooth as the taste.

Delta-8 Concentrates

Hemp concentrates contain a high concentration of Delta-8 THC, minor cannabinoids, and terpenes (depending on the product chosen) and will come in a variety of textures and consistencies.

Concentrates are considered advanced, as it is usually recommended for those with more hemp experience.

Those interested in adding it on top of flower or in a rig, only use a tiny amount.

Based on feedback from enthusiasts, this method carries effects that create a holistic experience with the body. That said, each person’s experience is different than the next, so yours may not be the same.

Delta-8 Tinctures

Tinctures are the holy grail of Delta-8 products. Not only can they be taken nearly everywhere with you, but they are also measurable and easy to use.

Delta-8 tinctures are liquid hemp extract mixed with a carrier oil. This product will be in a small glass bottle with a dropper cap for precise application. It can be used sublingually or added to a drink or food.

Our tinctures come in three flavors with the choice between 600mg or 1200mg of Delta 8 concentrate:

It’s preferred to start with a small drop or two (not the whole dropper) and set a timer waiting for the effects to arise.

Similar to edibles, this can take longer to activate when used in foods or drinks. But if used sublingually, effects can appear far sooner than edibles.

Delta-8 Edibles

When Delta-8 is ingested, the body processes it differently than inhaling it.

Smoking Delta-8 causes faster results because it goes from your lungs straight to your bloodstream.

However, when edibles are consumed, the Delta-8 gets broken down and converted into 11-Hydroxy-Delta-8-THC—which is more powerful than Delta-8 on its own.

Once it converts to 11-hydroxy-Delta-8-THC and reaches the cannabinoid receptors, the effects have been known to last much longer than smoking.

Even though edibles can be measured, it’s common for novice enthusiasts to underestimate the power of these products.

Remember, starting small will help steer you away from entering an experience you didn’t expect.

Delta 8: Can You Take Too Much?

There is always a possibility of taking too much Delta-8. If someone does this, there is little risk of physical danger, they just might feel “overwhelmed” or have other intense feelings.

If you or someone else you know feels that they took too much, the best thing you can do is relax and keep the mind occupied until the effects begin to wear off.

Final Thoughts

By the time you have made it to the end of this article, it should be clear that there is no universal amount to take. Your best bet is starting small based on what you think your body can handle. Remember, choose the consumption method based on what you hope to achieve and your current experience.
