These days you can buy almost anything online...but can you buy Delta-9 this way?

And then, you have other cannabinoid products such as Delta-8 THC and CBD.

So in this guide, we're going to cover everything you need to know about buying cannabis products online.

Let's get started.

Hemp-derived CBD + Delta-9 THC Gummies - Legal in 50 states

Delta-9 Legality

Delta-9 is the most well-known form of THC. In fact, when most people mention THC, they usually mean Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol.

In America, the law determines if a plant is considered hemp or marijuana based on the Delta-9 THC concentration by dry weight.

It's hemp when it's at or below a 0.3% concentration by dry weight. Any concentration higher than this is considered marijuana.

But keep in mind that hemp and marijuana are just legal terms. Both plants are members of the same species—cannabis.

Delta-9 THC is commonly written out as:

  • Delta-9
  • Delta-9 THC
  • D9
  • Delta-9-tetrahydrocannbinoal
  • Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol
  • Δ-9-THC
  • Δ9

As far as Delta-9's legality goes…you can get it in all 50 states.

What!?

When derived from hemp and consisting of no more than 0.3% of a product's dry weight, Delta-9 is legal on a federal level and in every state.

This includes products such as:

There is no set amount of hemp-derived Delta-9 THC that's legal or illegal. It's a concentration.

Despite the different amounts of Delta-9 in each of these products, it always remains below 0.3% of the edible's dry weight.

When Delta-9 meets the criteria for marijuana, it is considered illegal on a federal level and only available under certain circumstances (recreational states or medical programs).

And that just about covers it for Delta-9 THC's legality.

Delta-8 Legality

Delta-8 THC can be found in small amounts in cannabis, whether it's hemp or marijuana.

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized all cannabinoids extracted from hemp. This includes Delta-8 THC that has been derived from hemp.

Although Delta-8 is legal on a federal level, there are states where it is banned.

However, Delta-8 is legal in most states, and unlike hemp-derived Delta-9 THC, there is no concentration limit.

This is why you can find Delta-8 in various mediums beyond edibles.

As of this writing, there is no distinction for those who wish to purchase D8 for any purpose. In states where Δ8 is legal, it can be purchased as easily as CBD in states where that cannabinoid is legal.

CBD Legality

CBD or cannabidiol is another prevalent cannabinoid used in many hemp products.

CBD sourced from hemp became federally legal due to the 2018 Farm Bill and was one of the first cannabinoids to rise in popularity within many restrictive states.

As of this writing, you can get products with CBD in them in all 50 states (like our Select Spectrum line).

Buying Delta-9 Online

Shopping

Purchasing Delta-9 online will vary depending on if the product is considered marijuana or hemp.

To start off, buying hemp-derived Delta-9 THC is easy as…buying anything else online.

As long as you're 21 or older, it's just a matter of finding your preferred vendor, entering your address, paying with credit or debit, and then waiting for it to show up at your door.

Consumable hemp products are legal on a federal level and can cross state lines. It's because of hemp's federal legality that banks and credit card companies don't have a problem with customers using their cards to purchase such items.

With marijuana-derived Delta-9, it's a different story.

For starters, marijuana cannot cross state lines because this is the federal government's jurisdiction, and as of this writing, marijuana remains a Schedule I drug.

Then in most circumstances, you cannot use a credit or debit card to pay for marijuana because banking and credit institutions don't want any complications with the federal government.

So, the only legal way to buy marijuana online is if you're in a state where recreational marijuana is legal or you have a medical card.

Because it’s generally cash only and you can only purchase within your state, buying marijuana online in these instances is closer to getting take-out delivered to your home than it is to traditional online shopping.

And that's pretty much all there is to it.

Buying Delta-8 Online

Packing

Delta-8 THC that has been extracted from hemp is federally legal due to the 2018 Farm Bill.

Long story short, as long as Delta-8 is legal in your state, buying it online is as easy and convenient as buying hemp-derived Delta-9 online.

You only have to:

  • Find your preferred Delta-8 vendor (perhaps one that actively supports veterans)
  • Submit your payment with a debit or credit card
  • Provide an address
  • Wait for it to get delivered to your home

Wait a second, Delta-8 THC is not legal in every state. How can it cross state lines?

That is true. If you lived on the west coast and you ordered D8 from Hometown Hero here in Austin, Texas, that would mean ground shipping would have to pass through states where Delta-8 is banned.

But remember, the federal government:

  • Legalized Delta-8 THC
  • Has jurisdiction over items crossing state borders
  • Runs the USPS
  • Handles all matters in regards to airspace

At Hometown Hero, we use the USPS to deliver our products to our customers. We registered with the USPS as a hemp company, and our boxes are whitelisted with this federal agency.

Our customers can rest assured there won't be legal hassles with delivery, even if their shipment passes through prohibitory states.

It's perfectly legal because the D8 is passing through the state but not being delivered to that state.

Buying CBD Online

The rules to purchasing CBD online are similar to that of buying Delta-8.

CBD can be extracted from marijuana. However, it can also be extracted from hemp. When extracted from hemp, it is offered the same federal protections as Delta-8 or hemp-derived Delta-9 THC.

And as stated before, as of this writing, you can purchase products containing CBD in any state.

How to Order Delta-9 Online

There are plenty of reasons why people love hemp-derived Delta-9 THC.

Enthusiasts have described hemp-derived Delta-9 as:

  • Relaxing
  • Creating a sense of wellbeing
  • Calming
  • Spurring creativity
  • Promoting euphoria

But keep in mind that these effects may vary.

And another reason is that hemp-derived Delta-9 is easy to purchase online for customers 21 and over.

In fact, at Hometown Hero, we offer a variety of hemp-derived Delta-9 products.

These products include:

  • Select Spectrum Gummies
  • Live Rosin Gummies
  • Select Spectrum Squares
  • Delta-9 Squares

Plus, we're constantly launching new products, so it's best to be on the lookout.

Also, every purchase you make from Hometown Hero helps our mission toward supporting veterans.
